Judge Upholds Vegetable Garden Ban in South Florida:

(William Patrick) A Florida circuit court judge upheld a local ordinance Thursday banning front yard vegetable gardens in the Village of Miami Shores.
The ruling is the latest development in a case where local officials forced an otherwise peaceful couple to uproot their garden of 17 years.
The decision is a “blow to property rights,” according to the Institute for Justice, a public interest law firm. The judgment extends throughout the South Florida community.
My Commentary: Government: professionally regulating peaceful people into poverty and prison, while forcing them to pay for the criminal “service”…

Two men have been arrested for turning a North Carolina country club mansion into a massive marijuana farm.
Hong and Haih Nguyen rented a large Sapona Ridge Country Club home in the small town of Lexington where WFMY reported they operated seven grow rooms containing more than 500 pounds of pot when cops stormed in Monday evening.
My Commentary: Thieving pigs enforce immoral “laws” to promote poverty, corner the black market for the State, and consolidate more power into the hands of the government officials at the expense of peaceful individuals.

(Peter Bloom) The San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick shocked much of America last week by refusing to stand for the national anthem. In his own words,
“Ultimately it’s to bring awareness and make people realize what’s really going on in this country. There are a lot of things that are going on that are unjust, people aren’t being held accountable for, and that’s something that needs to change. That’s something that — this country stands for freedom, liberty, justice for all. And it’s not happening for all right now.”
His actions have resonated far beyond the sports page. They have spurred passionate reactions from supporters and detractors alike. No less than Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump proclaimed “Maybe he should find a country that works better for him. Let him try. It won’t happen.”
My Commentary: I’ve been sitting during the “pledge of allegiance” and “national anthem” since I was nine or ten years old. I remember asking my mother whether I *had* to engage in these particular rituals while at school, or if I could just sit, silently, instead.
Even at that age, I knew better than to give my loyalty or respect to a nation built on the blood and bones of genocide and slavery…

(Justin Gardner) After years of growing concern, the California state auditor has produced a damning reportdescribing how the state’s 79,000 foster children are being drugged with psychotropic medications at abnormally high rates.
The report found that nearly 12 percent of kids in California’s child welfare system were prescribed psychotropic medications – including antipsychotics, antidepressants and mood stabilizers – during 2014-2015. This compares to a rate of 4 to 10 percent for non-foster kids.
My Commentary: And, they are physically and sexually abused at rates much higher than the national average while in State foster care, too…
