(Shaun King) In two years time, I’ve now written nearly 1,000 articles about injustice in America. Injustice is so heavy here in the United States that if I had written 10,000 articles I still would only be scratching the surface. On the average day, I get hundreds of original emails from people who’ve been wronged in some way or another and hope they can have their story told.

When I first started telling these stories, I must admit that I was terribly naive. I had no idea how complex the justice system is. While I knew it was difficult to hold a corrupt or violent cop accountable for their actions, I simply didn’t know the lengths police, prosecutors, politicians and even local media outlets will go to protect a violent officer from paying the price for their brutality. I’ve learned the hard way over these past two years that what should make sense rarely does when it comes to holding police accountable for their violent actions. Now I know.

New Poll Finds That Hillary Supporters Are Pretty Racist Too:

(Josh Voorhees) A new Reuters/Ipsos poll paints a particularly depressing picture of the U.S. electorate’s opinions on race. The main takeaways from the survey, which was released late Tuesday: A significant slice of Americans expressed racist views against blacks, and those who identify as Donald Trump supporters are more likely to fall into that group, though Hillary Clinton supporters are definitely there too.

Pollsters interviewed 16,000 Americans and asked them to grade whites and blacks on a series of personal traits, ranging from their intelligence to lawfulness. “In nearly every case,” the outlet notes, “Trump supporters were more likely to rate whites higher than blacks when their responses were compared with responses from Clinton supporters.”

(David Staples) Today’s truth bomb comes from Mayor Lisa Holmes of Morinville, just outside of Edmonton, a place like many other Canadian communities that has struggled to find the right balance with photo radar enforcement.

Morinville’s photo radar program started in 2009. It’s been run by a private contractor that reports to the town office. The program was soon raising $300,000 a year, but some felt there was too much focus on handing out tickets and generating revenue. Things got so heated that in 2014 Morinville held a plebiscite. Fifty-five per cent voted to keep the program. Nonetheless, the new council vowed to make sure the program was all about safety, as opposed to being a cash cow for the local government.

()  Iowa teenager who recorded live streaming video of himself raping a toddler will not spend any time in prison after pleading guilty.

Kraigen Grooms admitted to raping a 2-year-old girl in April 2013, when he was 16 years old, while another man in New Orleans watched and recorded the abuse, reported Ottumwa Radio.

Investigators believe the assault was premeditated and that Grooms had targeted a 3-year-old boy for a similar assault.

(Claire Bernish) Without laws to guide them, police around the country have begun collecting people’s DNA — even when no crime has been committed — using private labs which then store the genetic material for unknown periods to make identification simple in the event a crime is committed in the future.

Known generally as “stop and spit,” the practice of requesting the DNA of adults and juveniles during routine traffic stops and even basic interactions with police, ProPublica reports, is not only wholly unregulated and unlegislated, it is alarmingly common.
