Picking a Master is an Exercise in Slavery

As I scrolled through my Facebook news feed, I discovered the following artwork here, being shared by the page, “Made in Anarchy,” and originally posted it to my own wall, along with commentary…

“I don’t vote. Not because ‘it’s pointless,’ or ‘the system is rigged,’ or ‘I just don’t care,’ but because voting is quite literally the act of trying to select a master for my neighbors, and I don’t have that right. None of us do.”

My Commentary: “*Not JUST because…”

Doublethinking About a Democratically-Elected Government

As I scrolled through my Facebook news feed, I discovered the following quote, being shared by an acquaintance, and originally posted it to my own wall, along with commentary…

“I don’t trust the average person to make his own choices. I therefore want everyone subjugating his own judgment to that of an external law-making authority. But that authority can’t just be arbitrary and unlimited, so I want the common people–who themselves can’t be trusted–to choose other people to be the authority. That way all the people who would behave like violent, wild animals can select the best and brightest among them to force the rest to behave in a proper manner. Because while I don’t trust the average person to run his own life, I do trust him to choose someone to run everyone else’s life. Because I am a statist. And I haven’t gotten around to questioning all the patently insane bullshit I was taught when growing up.”

Libertarianism Offers the LIBERTY of Individuality!

As I scrolled through my Facebook news feed, I discovered the following artwork here, being shared by the page, “The Advocates for Self-Government,” and originally posted it to my own wall, along with commentary

"Libertarianism does not offer a way of life; it offers LIBERTY, so that each person is free to adopt and act upon his own values and moral principles." - Murray Rothbard

“Libertarianism does not offer a way of life; it offers LIBERTY, so that each person is free to adopt and act upon his own values and moral principles.” – Murray Rothbard

My CommentaryRothbard refers to lower-case “l” libertarianism, of course… But, far be it from me to discourage any mindless Statists from regurgitating the pre-packaged talking-points they’ve been daily spoon-fed by the mainstream media monopoly…
