There Ought Not Be a Law:
http://reason.com/archives/2018/03/13/there-ought-not-be-a-law

() Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin wants limits on virtual currencies, like Bitcoin, that help people keep their financial lives private from folks like him. Senator Dianne Feinstein wants government regulation of political speech by foreign agents—or maybe just by people with whom she disagrees. Gun control activists want more restrictions with which to threaten peaceful gun owners so that violent predators who break laws will have more things to ignore.

If ever there was a “there oughta be a law moment,” we’re living in it. At least, we’re living in one of all too many such moments. Because people are forever looking to the law as the solution to the ills they perceive in the world around them—often only to spackle over the failures of the previous round of laws. In the process, they’re forever forgetting that laws are usually nothing more than codified prejudices, imposed against resistant populations, by sometimes incompetent and often corrupt enforcers.

Vote-begging the State to violently enforce your personal preferences upon the peaceful? You might just be a Statist!

A Very Short Debate on a Full Gun Ban in America

The following debate originally took place upon my Facebook wall, after I posted artwork being shared by the page, “AnarchoChristian”…

Rayn:

“Liberals: Cops are shooting black people based on race.
Also Liberals: Only cops should have guns.
Republicans: Don’t question cops when they use force.
Also Republicans: The 2nd Amendment is because we can’t trust the government”

Sam B.You’re right. The cop shouldn’t have a gun either.

Rayn: But… without an army of domestic terrorists, funded by victim extortion, and operating under color of law, how exactly do you expect to disarm an entire population of innocent, peaceful human beings?

Left-Wing Authoritarianism

Tracking Down the Elusive Left-Wing Authoritarian:
http://reason.com/blog/2018/03/08/tracking-down-the-elusive-leftwing-autho

() In The Authoritarian Specter, the Harvard social scientist Robert Altemeyer asked, “Is the ‘authoritarian on the left’ like the Loch Ness Monster: an occasional shadow, but no monster?”

Altemeyer is the man who in 1981 devised the Right-Wing Authoritarianism (RWA) scale, a test widely used to measure this personality and ideological variable. Social scientists generally report that right-wing authoritarians are conformists who obey established authorities, adhere to conventional social norms, and are hostile to people who flout both. Using such tests, they have argued that conservatives have a higher need for structure, lower attributional complexity, lower openness to experience, and higher perceptions of threat than do liberals—basically, that conservatives are mentally and socially rigid.

Now a new study in the journal Political Psychology claims that left-wing authoritarianism is no mere shadow.

My Commentary: They not only exist, but often score higher on the authoritarian scale than their conservative counterparts.

“Border Control” and “Gun Control” Crowd Share Same Flawed, Authoritarian Logic

I originally posted the following information and commentary onto my Facebook wall…

Two Statist Peas in a Pod:

(Larken Rose) It’s amazing how much the “closed border” crowd has in common with the “gun control” crowd, in how they think, in how they feel, and in how they talk.

My Commentary: Peel away the outer layers of the “arguments” being used to promote “closed borders” and “gun control” to discover the same exact violent ideology underlying them both.
