An Unforgettable Birthday of Scriptural Proportions!

I originally posted the following photo and statement onto my Facebook wall…

In an awesome moment of synchronicity, the two partially obscured words directly behind my shoulders, when converted from Late Semitic Script to modern Hebrew, read as follows:

“קודשו ושם” (from right to left)
or “w’shem kodsho”

This is translated as:
“and, [His] Set-Apart Name”

These words represent a portion of the following sentence:

“קודשו נקרא עליכם ושם”
or “w’shem kodsho niqra aleikhem”

Translation:
“And, His Set-Apart Name is invoked over you”

I find this intriguing because right after my husband completely surprised me with the news that we’d be attending the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit for my birthday, on the morning of, all I could think about was how amazing it was that we were going to be seeing and reading the Set-Apart Name of our Creator, “יהוה” [HE IS] (as first revealed to Moshe at Mt. "My next door neighbor wants to BAN all GUNS! Their house is NOT ARMED! Out of RESPECT for their opinions, I promise NOT to use MY GUNS to PROTECT THEM."

“My next door neighbor wants to BAN all GUNS! Their house is NOT ARMED! Out of RESPECT for their opinions, I promise NOT to use MY GUNS to PROTECT THEM.”

Rayn: Wow! While it is somewhat amusing, and the message is clever, I don’t really think it’s too cool. This guy is pretty much violating his neighbor’s privacy, and turning him into a target. It is as if he is tampering with the outcome of an event in order to make his so-called “righteous” viewpoint the correct one…very snaky. I have noticed that the vast majority of people who truly hold gun rights dear do so because of their respect for human life, and desire to protect it – meaning, themselves, their family, and beyond, against criminals. They own their weapon because of their desire not to see violence. This man’s neighbor isn’t a criminal, so why is he targeting him for victimization? Are his viewpoints about gun control too “criminal” for this man to tolerate? Why doesn’t he use intelligent discussion and debate to address the issue at hand? Has that somehow failed? I doubt it.

I don’t know the background of this apparent family fued, but unless this man’s neighbor specifically publicly targeted him about his ownership of firearms, this seems like it isn’t the right thing to do. The criminals are the enemy, so why give them information, or ammunition, for attack! What’s next? Will he hire someone to dress up and rob his neighbor, so he can chase them off with his trusty weapon, and say, “I told you so,” converting his neighbor over to the “right side.” Let’s just hope this guy isn’t truly fanatical, or his neighbor is in a lot of trouble!

As Nietschze wisely said, “Beware that, when fighting monsters, you yourself do not become a monster.”

We would all do well to “love thy neighbor”!

Anthony T.: This country is pretty messed up, but do you know of a better alternative?

Rayn: Being forced to choose between flawed government systems creates the “FALSE PARADIGM.” Here’s another alternative: How about INDIVIDUAL SOVEREIGNTY!? It may not be available right now, but that doesn’t remove it as an alternative, or eliminate it as reasonable way of life! This is vastly superior to being a SLAVE! And, if that answer doesn’t suit you, here’s another alternative: Switzerland. For one, the taxes very reasonable. Unlike here, where everyone but the rich pays 30.8%, almost no one pays over 30% (this is why the rich keep their money in Swiss Banks). Their policies make them one of the richest countries in the world by per capita gross domestic product. Out of their three global cities, Zürich & Geneva have respectively been ranked as having the first and second highest quality of life in the world! Also, as all men are required to join the militia, and must keep their service guns in their home, crime is very low! And, unlike America, the Swiss remain neutral unless attacked!
