(Ramzy Baroud) Everyone seems to have a theory on how to obliterate ISIS, or ‘Daesh’. However, two points are rarely raised: one, concerning the origins of the group and the second, on whether there are genuine intentions to defeat it, in the first place.

We must boldly address the first to unravel the enigma behind the rise and growth of ‘Daesh’ – otherwise, how else can the group be dismantled.

We must contend with the second point before engaging in superfluous discussions about the most appropriate war strategy – that if war is, at all, the answer.

(Nadia Prupis) As news emerges that police officers in Dallas, Texas used an armed robot to kill the suspected shooter in Thursday night’s ambush, experts are warning that it represents a sea change in police militarization that only heightens risks to human and constitutional rights.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown said Friday morning during a press conference that police “saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate” where the suspect had taken refuge in a parking garage as police tried to negotiate with him, adding that he was “deceased as a result of detonating the bomb.”

What’s next? Drone strikes on domestic “suspected terrorists”? Domestic “collateral damage”?

It’s still not too late to reject the fallacious, endless “war on terrorism” and end the crimes against humanity being committed daily in its name. After all… war, itself, is terrorism.

Stephen K.: What is happening in these photos, I have no idea.

Rayn: No? These images represent just a few of the many photos available to the public, showing American soldiers “just doing their job” by abusing and torturing detainees at Abu Ghraib prison, and happily posing with the dead body of one of their murder victims, Manadel al-Jamadi. This is a part of the U.S. government’s “War on Terror,” and it is, of course, a tax-payer funded operation. Ironically, we are supposed to believe that this sort of State-sponsored terrorism not only protects us from “the terrorists,” but that the tax-dollars pilfered from us all to fund these crimes against humanity (and other such horrors that almost no American has ever consented to), actually represent “our fair share,” as well as “the price we pay for a *civilized* society.” In other words, I’m supposed to accept these sorts of barbaric, criminal “services” because my tax dollars also go towards Muh Roads, muh schools, muh “law and order,” Muh Borders, and muh “aid for the poor.”
