Destroyed Videos Showed US Torture Victim ‘Vomiting and Screaming’:

(Jason Ditz, Antiwar.com) New information on the torture of detainees in custody at CIA “black sites” has come to light, revealing that the videotaped torture of Abu Zubaydah, tapes destroyed in 2005 by the CIA, showed Zubaydah “vomiting and screaming” after being stripped naked and waterboarded.
CIA legal counsel John Rizzo termed the videos “very disturbing” but insisted that all of the torture was “legal” at the time and that the videos were “extraordinarily hard to watch.”

My Commentary: As usual, in America, it’s more important to protect war criminals than to protect BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS… And, the torture victim mentioned has never even been formally charged with a crime, either…

John Yoo, the UC Berkeley law professor who penned legal memos that provided cover for President George W. Bush’s torture program, can’t be sued by one of the victims of that program, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said Jose Padilla, an American citizen arrested in 2002 and declared an “enemy combatant,” may not hold professor John Yoo liable for “gross physical and psychological abuse” that Padilla said he suffered during more than three years of military detention, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Discussing the Police Murder of Kelly Thomas

Johnny B.: why’d they beat this poor fellow?

Nali M.: watch the vid 😕

Nali M.: I couldn’t watch the whole thing

Robert C.: Since this guy is white and his father was a cop maybe someone will do time. But don’t hold your breath….

Rayn: Because he was uncooperative with efforts to question and search him by officers, John. Though he was non-combative, they responded with naked aggression and brutality, as you can see.

I noticed the cop connection, too, Robert when I was reading about it a few days ago. I thought to myself, “looks like they beat the wrong homeless schizophrenic man to death, this time.” I most definitely believe that this crime might never have made it to the news, aside from the fact that Kelly Thomas’ father is a retired police officer father, who likely went ALL OUT to expose his son’s killers. Keep in mind that the tape evidence we all now see came AFTER the charges were successfully pressed. In other words, it was discovered during the course of an investigation that might otherwise have never happened…

I’m still wondering, though… Just how many crimes are these murdering cops actually guilty of, aside from the beating death of Kelly Thomas? It would be foolish to assume that the one time a criminal gets caught is the first and only time they did a crime… Every arrest they ever made, and every accusation of police brutality against them ever reported should be examined thoroughly, now…

Jadav “Molai” Payeng stands among the fruit of his life-long reforestation effort in India

One Man Creates 1,360 Acre Forest:

(NaturalNews) Have you ever heard the saying “you have the power to make a difference”? Well, the following demonstrates how one person has proven this. Over 30 years ago, a young teenager by the name of Jadav “Molai” Payeng had an idea to turn a barren sandbar into a thriving oasis. With this vision in mind, he began planting seeds in this very same sandbar near his birth place of Assam, India. Soon thereafter, Payeng moved to the area in pursuit of fulfilling his dream of one day creating a forest out of land that was left for waste.

My Commentary: A common excuse for inaction is that “one person can’t make a difference.” This unsubstantiated claim is simply a defense of the status quo…
