Conscious Emcees

Peace to conscious emcees of this Hip-Hop species
That keep tight theses with no creases; never dropping feces lyrically
Focused mentally and spiritually
They clearly see the physicality of this reality as fallacy
Guaranteed to lead to malady; fatality comes rapidly for those who avidly resign to gravity
‘Cuz, in this battle, we need warriors; those that seek the truth and never seek to keep the glory for themselves
What they shelf their wealth upon is higher
What they have acquired can’t be burned with fire – can’t be ruined with water – can’t be bought or sold or mold because of age
And, no one can control it or hold it inside a cage or within
That’s why they put their gold inside their pages with their pen
They don’t play a role upon the stages made by men
They unfold illusion as it rages
Where it wages war upon the mind, they find it and engage it

I want to state that I appreciate it in this song
I want to dedicate it to the rappers that stay strong
You’ve never been the one to play the pawn
And, now it’s time to bring your message home, where it belongs

I want to state that I appreciate you in this song
I want to dedicate it to you, ‘cuz you stay so strong
You’ve been an inspiration for so long
And, now it’s time to bring your message home, where it belongs

In this struggle, you’ve done double the work of most of these other artists
You stand apart from the retarded garbage that they dribble with a string of spittle running from the middle of their chin into a puddle
You provide the light that penetrates a scene that’s muddled
You’re like a bridge that covers waters, troubled
You turn this puzzle back into a picture
And, when you pick your pad and pen up
The mixture that you blend up ends up in the top percentage
Served up like a printed form of vintage wine
It only strengthens in the face of time
You’re transcendental, incidentally, not by design
And, it’s sublime; the way you have with words
You shoulder nouns with verbs and adjectives that haven’t even occurred
To those that don’t deserve to be called emcees
Those preferred by companies, commercially
Subverting Hip-Hop to the worst degree
‘Cuz, they attack it from internally; while while you bring the branch of understanding forth, for all to see

Before it’s gone; we better find what’s wrong with Hip-Hop and correct it
We can’t neglect it; we must protect it
And, if that means we must dissect it and check it, then, so be it
There’s no way we can free it ’til we open it and see into its core
There, we’ll find the cancer we ignored
The traitor and collaborator; come to rob the place we store our treasure
For the sake of leisure and the sake of pleasure
Measured through the eyes
Of fairytales and lies
Fair-weathered promises from dishonest labels can’t phase us
It’s not the loot, but bearing truth that truly pays us
‘Cuz paper fades
But, words are lasting, real and stand alone
We’ve grown organically, and now it’s time to break the stone
With beating heart of gold and silver tongue
And, iron lungs that blow the smoke of life into an earth of dung; it’s time we all reverse the curse so we can all get high
We’ll bring about the birth of change; arrange it; do, or die

I want to state that I love Hip-Hop music in this song
I want to dedicate it to the rappers that stay strong
We’ll come together, then we’ll finally dawn
And, put the pieces back in place, so the mirage is gone

I want to state that I love Hip-Hop music in this song
I want to dedicate it to the rappers that stay strong
We’ll come together, then we’ll finally dawn
And, put the pieces back in place, so the mirage is gone
