Discussing Cannabis-Infused Edibles

The following correspondence originally took place upon my Facebook wall, after I posted a photo I took …

Rayn: Blueberry flaxseed muffin. 🙂

A muffin I purchased in NYC

Brian J.: Is there weed in it?

Rayn: The active ingredients in cannabis buds are not water-soluble, so it would be extremely wasteful to cook them directly into food, as the human body cannot absorb the goodness! To draw the cannabinoids from buds, they must be cooked (or soaked for weeks) in a lipid base. Afterwards, they are usually strained, in order to remove all remaining plant matter. 🙂

Joe M.: Too bad it looks like it’s been dipped in toxic waste.
