John Yoo, the UC Berkeley law professor who penned legal memos that provided cover for President George W. Bush’s torture program, can’t be sued by one of the victims of that program, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said Jose Padilla, an American citizen arrested in 2002 and declared an “enemy combatant,” may not hold professor John Yoo liable for “gross physical and psychological abuse” that Padilla said he suffered during more than three years of military detention, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Discussing the Police Murder of Kelly Thomas

The following correspondence originally took place on my Facebook wall, upon my post, “More American Fascism, Exposed!“…

Johnny B.: why’d they beat this poor fellow?

Nali M.: watch the vid 😕

Nali M.: I couldn’t watch the whole thing

Robert C.: Since this guy is white and his father was a cop maybe someone will do time. But don’t hold your breath….

Rayn: Because he was uncooperative with efforts to question and search him by officers, John. Though he was non-combative, they responded with naked aggression and brutality, as you can see.

I noticed the cop connection, too, Robert when I was reading about it a few days ago. I thought to myself, “looks like they beat the wrong homeless schizophrenic man to death, this time.” I most definitely believe that this crime might never have made it to the news, aside from the fact that Kelly Thomas’ father is a retired police officer father, who likely went ALL OUT to expose his son’s killers. Keep in mind that the tape evidence we all now see came AFTER the charges were successfully pressed. In other words, it was discovered during the course of an investigation that might otherwise have never happened…

I’m still wondering, though… Just how many crimes are these murdering cops actually guilty of, aside from the beating death of Kelly Thomas? It would be foolish to assume that the one time a criminal gets caught is the first and only time they did a crime… Every arrest they ever made, and every accusation of police brutality against them ever reported should be examined thoroughly, now…

Hiding CIA Torture Evidence in the Name of Fighting “Terrorism”

Ex-CIA Chief Defends Hiding Torture Evidence, But We Need to Know the Truth:
http://blog.amnestyusa.org/us/ex-cia-chief-defends-hiding-torture-evidence-but-we-need-to-know-the-truth/

() It feels like we have been here before. Another testosterone-fueled memoir from a charter member of President Bush’s torture team unapologetically seeks to justify the unjustifiable with inflated claims of attacks thwarted and secret battles won.

Latest to the plate is Jose Rodriguez, former Head of the CIA’s National Clandestine Service, and the man charged with implementing the application of enhanced interrogation techniques (EITs) to detainees that fell into the CIA’s clutches after 9/11.

Rodriguez was not always quite so willing to boast about his handiwork. In 2005 he destroyed 92 videotapes of high value detainees Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri being water-boarded at secret CIA prisons in Thailand.

My Commentary: “Defends hiding evidence.” Read that a few times in a row. Critical thinking is key here. When, where and why does “evidence” typically require “hiding”? Also, what technically constitutes “criminal conspiracy”? Here’s a helpful clue: http://criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-charges/conspiracy.html

Torture Constitutes “Treatment” at the Judge Rotenberg Center

JRC Expert Admits Shocks Didn’t Work, But Says Damage Was Minimal:

(MyFoxBoston.com) There were tough questions in court Friday for an expert who suggested that a teenager shocked and restrained for hours was treated appropriately.

Psychiatrist Lloyd Price, testifying on behalf of the Judge Rotenberg Center, tried to portray former JRC student Andre McCollins as a violent and angry young man who needed to be restrained.

McCollins was 18 at the time and a client of JRC in 2002 when he was shocked 31 times inside a classroom, mostly while restrained face-down on a restraint board. The treatment was inappropriate and unneeded and is causing damage to this day, his lawyers contend.

My Commentary: “Pain compliance” does not constitute ‘treatment.” It is basic conditioning, such as is done on lab rats… This pseudo-scientific attempt to control the very being of a human is not only in complete violation with our natural born rights, it just so happens to cause brain damage in victims, directly and through trauma. It is just another in a long list of disgraceful and barbaric practices committed against humanity in the name of “medicine.”

Video Reveals Teen’s Electro-Shock Torture at Massachusetts School:

() A video that a school in Massachusetts has fought in court for years to keep under wraps was played in public for the first time this week, revealing the torture of a disabled boy through the use of repeated electric shocks.

The Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) in Caton, Massachusetts has for years been pushing back against allegations of flippant use of electric shocks and other abuses against its special-needs students, and it had managed to keep video central to a case brought by one former student’s mother under wraps.

Now, the public knows why.

My Commentary: Andre McCollins, an 18-year-old special needs student attending the Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC) in Canton, Massachusetts, is confined and tortured with 31 electric shocks over a 7-hour span as “therapy” for the “crime” of not complying with a school official’s request that he remove his jacket…
