Oklahoma Mother of Four Gets 10 Years in Jail for Selling $31 of Cannabis

(Ginnie Graham, Tulsa World) Because of $31 in marijuana sales, Patricia Marilyn Spottedcrow is now serving 10 years in prison, has been taken away from her four young children and husband, and has ended her work in nursing homes.

Three days before Christmas, Spottedcrow, 25, entered the Eddie Warrior Correctional Center.

“I’m nervous, because it’s prison, people I don’t know,” she said.

“People said don’t get too comfortable here or you’ll be here longer. Don’t make too many friends. Come and do your time and get out.”

My Commentary: According to the article:

The two women were arrested for drug distribution and because Spottedcrow’s children were in the home, an additional charge of possession of a dangerous substance in the presence of a minor was added […] They were offered plea deals of two years in prison but decided to enter a guilty plea instead, a gamble they took because neither had prior convictions and because the amount of drugs sold was so small.

How is this justice? What a joke! Overly-politicized, totally Draconian “drug war” laws, TRUMPED UP charges (“possession of a dangerous substance in the presence of a minor”), and a woman with four children, a career working in nursing homes (although, recently unemployed), and NO PRIORS! And, also involved in what the State claimed was “an extensive operation,” this woman’s mother received a 30 YEAR suspended sentence for her involvement (meaning that a single, minor new arrest will land her in prison for 30 years). Take HEED, EVERYONE! THIS is how VICTIMLESS CRIMES are dealt with in America today! And, these are our tax dollars at WASTE!

Daniel Sz.: Speaking from personal experience, I became floridly and acutely psychotic immediately after the last time I smoked it, which was about four years ago. I had smoked it about a dozen times prior to that over the previous few years with no ill effect. The last time, however, landed me in the hospital. I have been hospitalized for psychotic episodes five times since then–including recently. I will never know to what extent it was the cannabis I smoked that caused it, or to what extent it was the Abilify I had taken for OCD and the Adderall I had taken for ADD. My stance on this is that yes, cannabis is bad for some people. But banning it makes about as much sense as banning sugar because it is harmful for diabetics. (And I am also a diabetic.) Those are me two cents’ worth.

Madeline F.: I think it would be a good idea to limit pot, sugar and fast foods in this country, especially to certain populations. Obesity and diabetes are becoming epidemics in this country and bankrupting our health care system. In many cases diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, cardiac and other health problems are preventable and reversible by living a healthy lifestyle. People waste food stamps on junk food and cigarettes, and there is proposed legislation which may restrict peoples’ access to these items who use food stamps. I hope it goes through because this country is having a health care crisis with younger and younger populations suffering from preventable diseases. As far as cannabis goes, my view is that its use should be medical only. Who knows if smoking it may have triggered your epigenetic tendency to psychosis. Mightn’t you have been better off if you’d never found out, or had a few more years before your first episode?

Rayn: If you read the content of this article carefully, you will notice that cannabis is only linked with early psychosis among those individuals who WILL suffer from psychosis in life, NOT among those who will not. This places the title of this article completely at odds with the information contained within. On its own, the title appears to push the fear-mongering pseudo-science of Voodoo Pharmacology, as if cannabis use CAUSES or leads to psychosis. And, since only two words (“among psychotics”) by the article-writer would have prevented such confusion, and yet, were not added, I’m inclined to believe that it was done intentionally. Also, there is no indication in this article as to whether those in the studies were taking medication, and what those medicines were. Without a prescription-drug-free “control group” to work with, all results mentioned in this article could just as easily be the result of interaction between cannabis and anti-psychotic drugs. Whether this is true or not, good studies don’t even leave room for such interpretations. There is also no mention about whether there was a control group that was NOT using casual stimulants, such as coffee or tobacco, which have been known to increase psychosis in some… You would think that this study’s researchers, or the article’s author, (whoever is responsible for the lack of full info on the study) would be much more thorough than this on a topic so controversial… Sad, really, what passes for journalism these days! I will save this article in the same folder that I keep all of my “WMDs in Iraq” articles!

(Paul Joseph Watson, PrisonPlanet.com) A British government Ministry of Defence report outlines a nightmare future society in which the population are forced to accept brain chips, immigration and urbanization ravages communities, class warfare ensues, and biological and neutron weapons are used to combat overpopulation.

The MoD’s Development, Concepts & Doctrine Center drew up the document to crystallize the “future strategic context” likely to face Britain’s armed forces, according to a report in the London Guardian today.

My Commentary: Interestingly enough, the systematic demonization and criminalization of hemp by the governments of the world has been the ONE OF THE MOST EFFECTIVE MEANS of projecting the pseudo-scientific Malthusian myth of “overpopulation.”

“Overpopulation refers to the exceeding of certain threshold limits of population density when environmental resources fail to meet the requirements of individual organisms regarding shelter, nutrition and so forth. It gives rise to high rates of mortality and morbidity.”

In other words, “overpopulation” should not be confused with “overcrowding” because it is not a condition that is determined by a simple measure of available living space. There are many other environment factors at play, as well. A very easy way to understand “overpopulation” is that it occurs in a system where resources are being consumed by a population faster than they are being restored, or where pollution is being emitted by a population faster than it can filtered.

According to Wiki, “the resources to be considered when evaluating whether an ecological niche is overpopulated include clean water, clean air, food, shelter, warmth, and other resources necessary to sustain life.”

With clean water, clean air and food production understood as the most vital resources considered in determining whether “overpopulation” exists in a particular system of individuals, it is time to place focus on those things that strain these resources. Industrialization, Urbanization, Deforestation, and Soil Erosion are the four human practices most destructive to the purity of water, air and food. And, interestingly, the by-far largest contributors to these conditions are cotton and timber industries, along with the sweetheart government policies that keep them all together in business. Combining their efforts, these three soulless entities have worked dilligently to practically completely outlaw HEMP production throughout the entire world in order to create monopolies for themselves within the paper, fabric and wood industries.
