Help-Mate: A Role for Wife Only, or Husband, Too?

I engaged in the following correspondence with another follower of Yahusha haMashiyach through Facebook messenger…

Tommy E.: How are you doing with everything??

Rayn: I’m doing okay, thanks.

Tommy E.: You gotta give me more if you want us to get to know one another

Rayn: Okay. How are you doing, today?

Tommy E.: It was a productive day for me. I manage construction projects and had three to visit today to keep moving successfully. Also had a class on revelation that I just started this semester

Rayn: Awesome. 😸

Rayn: As far as leisure goes, my favorite hobby is meticulously studying and researching all the topics I’m interested in, most especially liberty, law, language, Scripture, Ancient Hebrew, government, biology, medicine, nutrition, technology and philosophy. I also really enjoy cooking, gardening, and listening to music, as well as writing, creating art, photography and making music. In an effort to cultivate and curate my creative side, I’ve been web developer and webmaster my own website, since 2009, where much of my work is featured.

Rayn: Here’s some things I intended to include in my original [Messianic Torah-Observant Singles Group] post, but decided was too lengthy.

Rayn: According to the MBTI, my personality type is INTJ (also known as “the Architect”, or “the Mastermind”). In my own words, I would simply say that I’m very logical and practical, intrinsically prioritizing optimization, efficiency, and problem-solving above most other considerations, in my approach to life, while also being a highly detail-oriented individual. Meanwhile, being extreme introverted, I am very reserved and generally shy away from group setting full of strangers, not often willing to speak within them unless I feel extremely purposed to participate, since such environments are a bit overwhelming and often energy-draining to me, though I am able to more easily interact in groups consisting of those I know well. However, I very much enjoy the organic, authentic dynamic of one-to-one interactions and communications, and find them to be very refreshing – even sometimes rejuvenating, though I’m not very interested in small talk. Based on my unique social temperament, I often describe myself as intense, elusive, engaging and reclusive.

Rayn: I’m extremely anti-political, and have been a very vocal Voluntaryist since 2011, regularly publicly publishing many writings against the inherent corruption and injustice of Statism, woldwide, especially America’s pathocracy. Before this, I was a registered Libertarian for almost a decade, though I haven’t voted, whatsoever, since 1999 (which was the very first and last time I did so – at the age of 19).Rayn: My primary “love language” is quality time, while the next is a tie between verbal affection and physical affection. As for the traits of compatible help-mate, I value honesty, authenticity, integrity, humility, kindness, patience, compassion, loyalty, dedication, thoughtfulness, attentiveness, transparency, approachability, emotional availability, an even temper, a well-developed sense of humor, and an enduring enthusiasm for passionate conversations and rigorous discussions on a variety of meaningful topics (with Scripture being at the very top of that list), along with a deep and intimate relationship with YHWH. Through YHWH’s love, mercy and guidance, I’ve been cultivating all of these characteristics within myself for years, so a potential help-mate will need to either have all of these attributes, or be very willing and motivated to develop them, if he wants to truly develop and maintain an equally-yoked relationship together.

Rayn: Finally, to briefly summarize my walk of faith in YHWH, I was raised agnostic by my two recovering Catholic parents. At 12 years old, a woman on the street, who was giving away free Scriptures, handed me a mini “New Testament” book. Being very interested, I began to read it, regularly. By 1996, at 16 years old, I began to fall in love with YHWH and His Son, so I decided to get baptized in a Protestant Church, though I still didn’t label myself as a Christian, nor had I ever I joined a church, nor did I regularly attend any services at one. Instead, I eagerly attended Scripture studies, anywhere I was ever invited to join, as I truly love YHWH’s word, and find discussing it with others to be highly stimulating and invigorating. A year later, in 1997, at 17 years old, I finally began to dive deep into the “Old Testament”, and started to study the depth of the Hebrew roots that constituted full faith in YHWH and His Son, while I also started clean-eating. Shortly after this, I began to attend undergraduate classes full time at the University, which consumed all of my time, and left me with only little opportunities to study Scripture, for a number of years. Beginning in 2008, at 28 years old, I began to focus on understanding the Name of Our Father, as well as His Character, His Seven-Fold Ruach, His Ten Devariym, and His Aleph Bet, as I began to slowly learn both modern and ancient Hebrew. The next year, in 2009, I created the Facebook page, יהוה, https://www.facebook.com/TheHeIs, and was excited to discover that there were actually a handful of other individuals on the same sort of journey that YHWH was leading me on. From there, I continued to study Scripture, although I still had no assembly to enjoy fellowship with. In 2012, at 32 years old, I began to keep Shabbat, while moving away from the few pagan holidays I still celebrated with family, namely Christmas and Easter, as my now-ex-husband soon became very unsupportive of my decision, and regularly attempted to convince me against doing so. I eventually submitted to his repeated requests, and stopped observing YHWH’s Set-Apart Day, and kept just Christmas, though I continued to read Scripture. By late 2015, at 35 years old, I began to keep Shabbat, again, and deny Christmas, finally observing Passover for the first time in my life, in 2016 – albeit completely by myself. Much like last time, my now-ex-husband began to regularly attempt to convince me not to keep Shabbat, while I determined to talk him into observing YHWH’s Set-Apart Day with me, instead. I eventually submitted to his repeated requests, again, in order to keep the “peace” in our marriage, though I was not happy with his undue meddling in my faith. In 2019, I separated from my spouse upon learning of his adultery, and in April of 2022, after my divorce was legally finalized, [Being made a widow by my ex-husband’s adultery] I began to immediately keep Shabbat, again – an observance that I have continued to keep, ever since that time. More recently, in September of 2023, I began to attend weekly Shabbat fellowship with “Torah to the Tribes” through Zoom.

Tommy E.: I have read some of your content on your website and learned a portion of what you have just shared. We share some of this journey. I keep Shabbat and teach the Word to my family and friends every Friday night. Saturday mornings I go to synagogue for a holy convocation. I keep all the mandated feasts and a few others. The program I am studying is a masters degree in “The Hebraic Roots of The Christian Faith.” It is given through a university that sits in mt. Zion. I will be going to live in Israel 3 months at a time over the next year and a half where I return to the states for 2 months between each session. I have visited all over the biblical world searching for truth and will be visiting the 7 churches of revelation in turkey in just a few months. I seek to live out what Yeshua taught concerning love to our brothers and sisters and that includes especially the lost. Not the least of which is 1st day Christians. I am looking for a suitable mate, my help mate, which is one thing I didn’t understand about what you just shared…you said you were looking for a helpmate and I expected you to say you were looking to become a helpmate to the right man for you??

Rayn: I have considered the term “helper/helpmate” (“ezer” in Hebrew) to be a description that is interchangeable inside of a marriage covenant by virtue of the fact that YHWH is repeatedly described by the term “ezer” with respect to His relationship with His followers.

Rayn: Apologies for any confusion my usage of the term caused.

Tommy F.: No confusion but thank you for clarifying your thoughts on your decision of usage of the term

Rayn: You’re most welcome.
