NYC Musician Uses His Time and Talent to Illustrate True Compassion as a Voluntary Endeavor

I originally posted the following information and commentary onto my Facebook wall…

Musician in NYC Performs Next To Homeless People So They Get More Cash:

My Commentary: Real compassion is voluntary…

But, hey, just quietly and passively pay those compulsory taxes to let the State “take care of” the homeless (AKA police harassment, corrupt shelter systems, vagrancy laws, destruction of property, fines, jails)!

Keep your soft, pink hands “clean,” my friends!

For just a taste of the truth about homelessness in NYC, and how the State represents the worse enemy to some of the most vulnerable members of our society, watch the movie, “The Saint of Fort Washington.”

Sadly, Friends and Family Often Use Facebook as Place to Advocate for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity

I originally posted the following information and commentary onto my Facebook wall…

"Deborah Massey: Any city that has ISIS people hiding out in it needs to be bombed to the ground. That will send a message that they can't hide from us anywhere. And all those people coming over from Syria need to be kept locked up until they can PROVE they aren't terrorists! If Obama would go back to waterboarding the ones we capture, we could stop attacks from happening. We have to protect ourselves."

Aunt On Facebook Casually Advocates War Crime:

In a brief Facebook post, Deborah Massey offhandedly proposed several ideas that stood in stark violation of the Geneva Conventions and international law.

My Commentary: So true! Some family and friends even advocate for crimes against humanity while on Facebook…

Disobey!

As I scrolled through my Facebook news feed, I discovered the following artwork here, being shared by the page, “The Great Work,” and originally posted it to my own wall, along with commentary…

"Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves." - Henry David Thoreau

“Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves.” – Henry David Thoreau

My Commentary: Disobey…

To the Peacemakers!

As I scrolled through my Facebook news feed, I discovered the following artwork here, being shared by the page, “Liberty Outlook,” and originally posted it to my own wall, along with commentary…

“To everyone out there who has remained consistently anti-war throughout both the Bush and Obama years”

My Commentary: Here’s to the peacemakers!

Meditating on the Reality of Being Governed…

As I scrolled through my Facebook news feed, I discovered the following artwork here, being shared by the page, “TRUTHgasm,” and originally posted it to my own wall, along with commentary…

“TO BE GOVERNED is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so.
It is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished.
It is, under pretext of ‘public utility,’ and in the name of ‘the general interest,’ to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, ROBBED:
Then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, villified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed.
And to crown it all, it is to then be mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored.
THAT IS GOVERNMENT; THAT IS ITS JUSTICE; THAT IS ITS MORALITY.”

My Commentary: I’ve shared this quote previously, but this time, I’ll note that these words might appear to be recent, but they were actually written by Pierre-Joseph Proudhon in 1851!

As you can see, Truth transcends time!

(note: though I previously shared a shorter version of this quote in February of 2013, within my post, “To Be Governed…,” I still felt compelled to offer up an alternative commentary when I saw it again, due to the inspiring nature of these words)
