Repealing the Second Amendment Is Easier than You Think:
https://mises.org/wire/repealing-second-amendment-easier-you-think

() In Tuesday’s New York Times, former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens calls for a repeal of the Second Amendment, calling it a “relic of the 18th century.”

In response, many commentators have focused on what would be involved in repealing the amendment, noting that the formal amendment process is very costly and difficult. Amending the Constitution requires securing two-thirds majorities in both the House and the Senate — and then three-fourths of the states would have to ratify the amendment.

My Commentary: Although Supreme Court judges are duty-bound to uphold the Constitution, they see no issue in using their ultra-minority-based “decisions” to completely modify its original terms.

It’s no coincidence that yesterday’s New York Times article about repealing the Second Amendment was written by a retired Supreme Court judge…

Harris County Judge Says Arrests of Poor People Good for Job Security:

(Meagan Flynn) The driving infractions and fines had piled up on Robin Clearey, who stood before Magistrate Joe Licata after she was ticketed for driving without working taillights, a license or valid registration.

he had been through this many times before, she told the judge, and at that very moment she also had a criminal case pending for driving with an invalid license, for which she would stay in jail unless she paid a $3,500 bond. Licata warned her that, if she didn’t pay the fines for these tickets and renew her license after paying surcharges to the Department of Public Safety, “you’re gonna get arrested every time you get pulled over.”

That was nothing to her, Clearey responded — because she had already become trapped in a cycle of arrests.

“It’s nothing to me either,” Licata told her. “It’s job security.”

Kraigen Grooms admitted to raping a 2-year-old girl in April 2013, when he was 16 years old, while another man in New Orleans watched and recorded the abuse, reported Ottumwa Radio.

Investigators believe the assault was premeditated and that Grooms had targeted a 3-year-old boy for a similar assault.

Judge Rules Government Can Ban Vegetable Gardens Because They’re ‘Ugly’:
http://countercurrentnews.com/2016/09/judge-rules-government-can-ban-vegetable-gardens-theyre-ugly/

(Ben Richards) Last week, a Miami-Dade judge became the focus of much-deserved anger when she ruled on an ordinance banning front yard vegetable gardens. The village of Miami Shores, according to the ruling, has every right to take legal action against residents who dare to grow food in their own yards because they are “ugly.”

The ruling was a whopping ten pages long as it was filled with legal analysis and definitions of what constitutes a vegetable. Even though she ruled in favor of the ban, Judge Monica Gordo acknowledged that she wasn’t quite sure how a vegetable garden can ruin the aesthetics of one’s property.

However, she stated that the democratically elected government has every right to dictate what constitutes an ugly front yard, and gardens are apparently a contributing factor.
