7 Myths and Atrocities of Christopher Columbus That Will Make You Cringe:

() (Inspired by Vince Schilling‘s article for Indian Country Today Media Network: Read it here.)

In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue, so goes the elementary school rhyme. But Columbus also committed numerous crimes against humanity that we never learned about in school. This coming Monday, whenever you see a status update or tweet mentioning Columbus Day, share this article in response. On the anniversary of Columbus’ landing, it’s important for everyone to remember that Christopher Columbus was one of the most evil men to ever walk the earth, and that the myths propagated about him were completely wrong.

My Commentary: I discovered and read “Bartoleme de Las Casas, Brief Account of the Devastation of the Indies. (1542)” in the public library when I was around 9 or 10 years old, and innocently searching for any information I could find on the Native American portion of my family’s ancestry. It changed my views on EVERYTHING, FOREVER… Needless to say, the very first thing to go was any semblance of trust that I had in public schooling. Never again would allow the institution to “interfere with my education” (to paraphrase Mark Twain)…

The Devil HAS ALWAYS Waged War Against the Peaceful!

As I scrolled through my Facebook news feed, I discovered the following artwork here, being shared by the page, “Liberate RVA,” and originally shared it to my own wall, along with commentary

"The Indians are so naive and so free with their possessions that no one who has not witnessed them would believe it. When you ask for something they have, they never say no. To the contrary, they offer to share with anyone." "They would make fine servants... With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want." - Christopher Columbus

“The Indians are so naive and so free with their possessions that no one who has not witnessed them would believe it. When you ask for something they have, they never say no. To the contrary, they offer to share with anyone.” “They would make fine servants… With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.” – Christopher Columbus

My Commentary: Think critically! The Devil HAS ALWAYS waged war against the peaceful… In reality, the “Great Serpent” is nothing more than a PARASITIC WORM! He DEVOURS the life-force of the innocent because he understands his own evil ways to be sterile, unproductive, and unsustainable, and yet, arrogantly refuses to let go of his vain pursuits.

Even when the wicked literally WITNESS THE AMAZING PARADISE OF TRUE LIBERTY with their own eyes, they waste no time in pompously dismissing the vision of beauty as a “naive” aberration, while actively plotting against the scene in pursuit of slave labor, rather than viewing it as a soul-awakening indictment against the systemic failures of their own corrupted, decaying societies and hearts…

This isn’t the first time I’ve discussed this topic, and it won’t be the last!

"The Indians are so naive and so free with their possessions that no one who has not witnessed them would believe it. When you ask for something they have, they never say no. To the contrary, the offer to share with anyone..." He concluded his report by asking for financing from their Majesties and the Pope, and in return, he would bring them "as much gold as they need... and as many slaves as they ask." - Cristobal Colon aka Christopher Columbus

From Columbus’ Diary:

“When your Highnesses so command, [the Arawak Natives] could all be carried off to Castile or be held captive in the island itself, because with 50 men they could all be subjugated and compelled to do anything one wishes.”

[…]

“As soon as I arrived in the Indies, on the first Island which I found, I took some of the natives by force in order that they might learn and might give me information of whatever there is in these parts.”

My Commentary: COLUMBUS DAY is a CELEBRATION of THEFT, OCCUPATION, IMPERIALISM, SLAVERY and GENOCIDE… so, of course, it makes sense that it was declared a national holiday in America!
