(David IngramMassachusetts is preparing to levy a 5-cent fee per trip on ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Lyft and spend the money on the traditional taxi industry, a subsidy that appears to be the first of its kind in the United States.

Republican Governor Charlie Baker signed the nickel fee into law this month as part of a sweeping package of regulations for the industry.

Ride services are not enthusiastic about the fee.

BREAKING: DEA Proves Loyalty to Big Pharma, Maintains Cannabis Has “No Medicinal Value”:
http://thefreethoughtproject.com/dea-refuses-reschedule-cannabis/

(Jay Syrmopoulos) The federal government has once again revealed itself as nothing more than puppets to the big pharma industry. On Thursday, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) moved to deny any changes to marijuana under its federal drug schedule, keeping the drug in the most restrictive category for U.S. law enforcement purposes.

For decades the pharmaceutical industry has poured millions into the pockets of corrupt politicians as they lobbied to keep cannabis illegal. As the Free Thought Project reported last month, a new study from the University of Georgia shows exactly why all that money was spent. Legal marijuana destroys big pharma’s profits.

Well, Back to Smoking: FDA Bans 99 Percent of E-Cigarettes:
https://fee.org/articles/well-back-to-smoking-fda-bans-99-percent-of-e-cigarettes/

() The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published long-awaited rules Thursday that could ban 99 percent of e-cigarette products and wreck industry innovation for years to come.

Passed in 2009, the Tobacco Control Act says all e-cigarette products released after February 15, 2007, (predicate date) will have to go through the Pre-Market Tobacco Applications process (PMTA). FDA officials claim they cannot change the predicate date.

The PMTA is ruinously expensive and can cost millions of dollars per product and by the FDA’s own admission will take more than 1,700 hours for an applicant to complete.

Since almost all vapor products on the market were released after February 2007, hardly any will avoid a PMTA and almost no businesses, with the exception of big tobacco companies, will be able to bear the regulatory burden.

American Government Orders Hundreds of Millions of Pounds of Food to be Destroyed Every Year

As I scrolled through my Facebook news feed, I discovered the following captioned photo, being shared by an acquaintance from here, and originally posted it to my own wall, along with commentary…

Santucci Farm – Traverse City Cherries: These cherries are beautiful! But, we have to dump 14% of our tart cherry crop on the ground to rot. Why? So we can allow the import of 200 million pounds of cherries from overseas! It just doesn’t seem right. What do you think? Please share this on your Facebook page🍒🍒🍒. Just to let everyone know we are not allowed to donate or in any way use diverted cherries. I have people who would buy them if I could sell them. Also these are tart cherries with a very short shelf life

And, during the “Great Depression,” the State ordered hundreds of millions of pounds of food be destroyed to artificially boost market prices, even while millions of Americans spent years starving.

THIS is the Nature of the State…
